Comparison
A Group Leads alternative, compared honestly
Group Leads is the tool most admins find first, and it has been doing this job longer than we have. Here is what it does well, what the browser requirement costs in practice, and where KeepAnswers takes a different route.
Updated 6 minute read
The short version
- Group Leads is the most established option in the category and it works.
- Roughly $27 to $57 a month, or $97 to $247 a year, with group caps of two, four and unlimited.
- They also sell a one-time lifetime licence at $297, so this is not only a subscription-versus-lifetime argument.
- Their documentation requires your browser to be open to Facebook while it runs.
- Multi-group intervals are spaced by the admin by hand.
- KeepAnswers is $197 once, runs on its own schedule, and has no track record yet.
Start with what they get right
Group Leads has been in this market for years, which in a category built entirely on reading a Facebook page is worth something concrete: they have been through more interface changes than we have, and their tiering means a two-group admin can start at the bottom of the price list rather than buying the whole thing.
What Group Leads does well
- The longest track record in the category, across many Facebook interface changes
- A tier for small admins, so two groups does not cost what unlimited costs
- A broad list of direct integrations with mainstream email platforms
- Unlimited groups available on the top tier
- An established support and documentation base you can search before you buy
What you take on
- Your browser has to be open to Facebook while it works
- Multi-group intervals are spaced by you, by hand
- On the recurring plans the cost repeats, and rises with the number of groups you run
- The top monthly tier reaches $684 over a year if you pay month to month
The browser requirement, and what it actually costs
Their documentation is direct about it: “Your browser must be open to Facebook, and your computer must be connected to the internet.” That is not a criticism of their engineering. The answers exist only on a rendered page inside a logged-in session, so a tool that lives in the browser tab needs the tab.
The cost shows up in ordinary weeks rather than dramatic ones:
- Shut the laptop at 6pm and nothing is captured until you open it again.
- A Windows update reboots overnight and the tab does not come back. You find out days later, from the gap in the sheet.
- Travel days, holidays, and the week your machine is being repaired are all blank stretches.
- Join requests arrive on their schedule, and yours is the one that has to bend, which usually means leaving a machine on and a tab pinned all day.
The honest framing: if your computer is on and Facebook is open most of the time anyway, this requirement costs you very little. If it is not, it is the whole problem.
Multi-group spacing
Group Leads asks the admin to space multi-group intervals by hand to avoid Facebook activity flags.
That is reasonable advice and it is also homework. Three groups means picking three staggered windows and remembering to re-stagger the day you add a fourth. KeepAnswers works out the spacing across every group on the licence itself.
What three years costs
| Option | Year one | Three years |
|---|---|---|
| Group Leads, top monthly tier at $57/mo | $684 | $2,052 |
| Group Leads, top annual tier at $247/yr | $247 | $741 |
| Group Leads, entry monthly tier at $27/mo | $324 | $972 |
| Group Leads, lifetime licence | $297 | $297 |
| KeepAnswers lifetime, launch price | $197 | $197 |

Arithmetic is the easy part of this comparison and it is also the least interesting. A subscription buys you a company with an incentive to keep the product working every month. A lifetime licence from an early release buys you a lower number and a bet that we are still maintaining it in three years. We think that is a good bet. We would say that.
Prices read from the vendor’s own site on August 12, 2026. They change, and the vendor’s page is the authority, not this one. Group Leads also sells a one-time lifetime licence at $297, the same anchor Group Collector and Group Funnels use. If that is the plan you would buy, the three-year gap against our launch price is $100, not $544, and we would rather you knew that from us.
Where the two products actually differ
| Group Leads | KeepAnswers | |
|---|---|---|
| Browser must stay open | Yes, per their documentation | No |
| Runs on a schedule you set | Runs while you are on the page | Randomised schedule with quiet hours |
| Multi-group spacing | You set the intervals | Worked out automatically |
| Answers to Google Sheets | Yes | Yes |
| Lead magnet email | Yes | Yes, sent as the answer lands |
| Auto-approve members | Yes | Yes, at a human pace |
| Group limit | Two, four or unlimited by tier | No cap on the one licence |
| Billing | Monthly, annual, or a $297 lifetime licence | One-time, lifetime |
| Track record | Years in market | Early release, none yet |
| Integration breadth | Broader than ours | Google Sheets first, fewer direct connectors |

What we do not pretend about
KeepAnswers is an early release. There are no customers to quote, no reviews to point at and no years of interface changes behind us. Group Leads has all three. If your deciding factor is “who has already survived this”, that is a fair reason to pick them, and we would rather say so here than have you find out after buying.
Other limits worth knowing before either purchase applies to us as well:
- Chrome and Chromium browsers only.
- You must be an admin or moderator of the group.
- Only membership question answers are captured, nothing else from the group.
Pick Group Leads if
- You want the option with the longest track record in the category.
- You need a specific direct integration with an email platform and cannot route through a sheet.
- Your computer is on with Facebook open most of the working day anyway.
- You run one or two groups and the entry tier is cheaper than a lifetime licence for you.
Pick KeepAnswers if
- You do not want to leave a machine on and a tab pinned.
- You run several groups and would rather not hand-space the intervals.
- You want the total cost to be a single number rather than a monthly one.
- You are comfortable buying from an early release, in exchange for the launch price.
Next step
The full comparison table puts all five tools side by side on the same rows, and the pricing page has what a KeepAnswers licence includes and what it does not. If you have not decided whether to automate any of this yet, the guide on saving question answers covers doing it by hand first.
Questions people ask
- What does Group Leads cost?
- Published pricing runs from about $27 to $57 a month, or roughly $97 to $247 a year depending on tier, with group limits of two, four and unlimited across the tiers. The top monthly tier works out at $684 over twelve months if you pay month to month rather than annually. They also sell a one-time lifetime licence at $297. Check their site for the current figures before you buy.
- Does Group Leads need my browser open?
- Yes. Their own documentation states that your browser must be open to Facebook and your computer must be connected to the internet. That is a design consequence of where the data lives, not an oversight. The other tools in this category read the same rendered page, so we expect the same of them, but Group Leads is the only one we have it from in writing.
- Is KeepAnswers a drop-in replacement for Group Leads?
- For the core job, capturing membership answers to a sheet and sending a follow-up, yes. Group Leads has been in the market far longer and has a broader integration list, so if you depend on a specific direct integration, check ours covers it before you switch.
- Can I run both at once?
- Technically two extensions can read the same queue, but you will get duplicate rows and two follow-up emails to the same person. If you are trialling a switch, point them at different groups rather than the same one.
- Why is KeepAnswers a one-time price when Group Leads is a subscription?
- Because the software runs on your machine and against your own Google Sheet, so there is no per-customer server cost that grows with usage. That is also the honest risk in a lifetime licence from an early release: you are betting the product is still maintained in three years. A subscription is a bet the price does not rise. Both are bets.
